Rocksonics Legacy Hardware

Rocksonics was well known in the 1990's for manufacturing some very unique and useful audio gear.   Much of this gear was used on major label recordings and by touring acts in stadiums and concert arenas around the world.

Rocksonics manufacturing was officially closed year-end 1997 however a few units remained.  It was decided to place these items in storage to support our customers in the event a replacement should be required. 

Despite closing a decade ago we continue to receive inquiries regarding these items.  We have decided to release these remaining items as "new old stock".  They have been fully tested and repackaged in simple kraft or Priority Mail shipping boxes.  These are NEW, not used or "demo" items and are in LIMITED quantities.

DRP-2a Stereo Dynamic Range Processor

The DRP-2a Stereo Dynamic Range Processor is a "swiss army knife" for your studio.  It can be used as a standard linked-stereo compressor/expander/noise gate for stereo signals or as a single channel mono processor and pre-amp.  The right channel input has a pre-amp with variable gain (rear panel control) for direct connection to Hi-Z microphones and instruments (guitar, etc.).  The front panel controls offer dynamic range control from Limiting through 1:1.9 expansion.  Three selectable release rates and three selectable noise gate settings offer additional dynamics control.   The unit features 1/4" unbalanced phone jacks for signal inputs and outputs.

The MVCA-4 "Xtra-Hand" is a 4 channel, MIDI controlled VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier).   This device reads incoming MIDI messages and uses them to control the audio levels of the four audio channels.  Each audio channel has its own MIDI channel selector.   In this way two or more channels can be linked to respond to the same MIDI messages.  The MVCA-4 reads continuous controllers numbers 1-32 as well as "Note On" and "Note Off" messages for discrete level changes.  The use of VCAs rather than digital attenuators eliminates "zipper noise" during gain changes.

The MVC-4 is designed for nominal -10dBV signal levels and has Hi-Z inputs.  1/4" unbalanced phone jacks for each of the audio ins/outs and a MIDI "thru" connector.

MB-3X Multi-Band Stereo Compressor

The MB-3X Multi-Band Stereo Compressor is an analog mastering and live signal processor for demanding applications.  It features a "brick wall" stereo limiter and a three-band stereo compressor.  A very subtle downward expander kicks in at low levels to reduce the noise floor.  The multi-band compressor has fixed crossover points at 300Hz and 3KHz which provide a nicely balanced spectrum with any source.  Two selectable release rates and output EQ trim controls finish the mix.   The MB-3X is equipped with dual +4dBm/-10dBV selector switches independent for inputs and outputs.  This feature combined with the 1/4" BALANCED phone jacks for inputs and outputs allows the MB-3X to be used in a multitude of applications including -10 to +4 level shift, unbalanced to balanced conversion, etc.  This is a superb processor for mastering and live audio production work.
